Re-thinking the Role of the Somali Aid
Coordination Body (SACB)
The Somalia
Watch Organization believes that it is time for the UN to re-think the Somali Issue.
The function of the Somali Aid Coordination Body (SACB) needs to be improved in
order to achieve the desirable results. Somalia Watch Organization would suggest the
following points, which are in line with the current realities in the area,
for the consideration of the World Body(UN) and its concerned members.Relocation of the
offices of the Somali Aid Coordination Body (SACB) to the peaceful and newly established
States of Somalia.
Re-think the
mandate of the SACB taking into consideration the new political realities of the country.
The established States like Puntland and Somaliland have requirements different from
the crisis areas in the south of the country. They need to build the capacities of normal
institutions These different requirements needs to be built in the planning and programs
of SACB and other International Organizations that operate in the country.
This is for the kind considerations of the World Body, and member
Governments with interest in real peace in the Horn of Africa.
